The Tortini – The little green brother of Tortuga

The Timber Boards Tortini is all the things we love about our bestselling longboard: the Tortuga, but 7 cm/2.75″ smaller. This 110 cm/43.5″ freestyler can be placed between the Bison 43″ and his big brother the Tortuga 46″.

High and balanced pop, concave at the bolts and rocker. This longboard is light, but strong and therefore the ideal partner for freestyle and dancing. The Tortini comes in three different flexes.

Construction of the longboard & mechanical properties

The Tortini has three layers of bamboo, sandwiched between layers of e-fibreglass, carbon fibre, bio-epoxy and bamboo veneer on the bottom. These layers contribute to a strong deck with just the right amount of flex, while keeping the board light. This board will definitely remind you of its big brother Tortuga, however it will feel more stiff, because the Tortini is smaller than its brother.

Board shape

The Tortini is shaped like the Tortuga, but we left out 7 cm/2.75″ in the middle.

The sidewalls have been engineered to distribute impact forces to reduce chipping. Lengthwise they are a bit rounded. The edges of the deck are also rounded off more to make the board look pretty. To clarify, rounded edges enhance durability and aesthetics, ensuring your deck looks good for the long haul.

Concave

Well first off, it has 6mm rocker, but is in different stages. You won’t feel a ‘drop’ but it feels low to the ground and evenly spread throughout. Even though it’s a bit more intricate than that. Because at the stance, the concave is a bit more compared to the waist, but since the waist is bit more wide it feels like one solid concave, but it is not. The whole combination with the rocker and the outline of the shape makes it all flow perfectly together to feel comfortable at first ride. You will always feel where you stand on the board exactly. Making it perfect for the more technical freestyle side of the skate-spectrum.

Kicks

Two-stage kicks makes this board feel comfortable any way you stand. Closer to the bolts for one footed tricks you will find that the concave is still there. This concave allows for a better grip while doing tricks like blunt slides, g-turns, all those tricks that require you to know where you are on your board. Further away from the bolts and you’ll notice the kicks curve upwards a bit more. This two-stage curve gives a lot of control during manuals, and gives the kick a familiar and predictable feel. The extra layer of bamboo gives the board a longer life.

Wheelbase

Variable wheelbase for a huge variety of set-ups. The longest is 76,4 cm and the shortest is 70,4 cm. With three different possibilities on both sides you’ve got a total of 9 different choices on where to place your trucks. Long enough for slow paced dancing, or short enough to dance fast with a slower speed. Whatever you want.

Timber suggested longboard setup

We personally think that this board needs a dancing/freestyle set-up. 50 degrees 180MM or 165MM trucks with 58-65mm wheels. It has wheelwells, but for larger wheels we suggest an appropriately sized riser.
